NYFW Day 1 Look - Yellow Trench Coat & The Psychology Behind Tt

Hi all,

Super excited to bring you details and a video from day 1 of NYFW! Today, I wore a super fun yellow trench coat (sold out now unfortunately, similars below) that got all the looks and was photographed quite a bit throughout the day! This outfit was worn on Thursday as I went to Tadashi Shoji’s show and followed that up with a visit to Farfetch’s gifting suite and the Tamara Mellon store in SoHo. So, why this look? And why yellow? Let’s talk all things NYFW below!

Yellow Trench Coat

So as I was looking at the forecast for NYFW - a must in February in particular, because you need to know if there’s snow, rain or really cold weather coming - or even all of the above together - I realized there would be at least a few days of possible rain. I began planning for it immediately - what outfit would look good with an umbrella? Or should I style instead with a fun trench coat? That’s how this outfit first came together.

I’m a fan of Materiel Tblisi, a Georgian (Country, not US state) brand with super cute pieces. This yellow trench coat (sold out, unfortunately)fulfilled in my mind 2 main items: a trench coat to protect me from the rain, but its color would hopefully lighten up a gloomy day and get the photographers attention, as well.

To complement the outfit, I grabbed this yellow turtleneck courtesy of The Outnet and brown snakeskin boots from Jimmy Choo that you have seen me wear time and again.

The color yellow in fashion

Yellow is a great, fun color to wear, isn’t it? Yes, it’s a bit loud, but it has so many benefits. It’s a happy, cheerful color that can brighten gloomy days, but it’s also the first color our eyes see. So it’s a great color to use in road signs, but also when you’re trying to be noticed, or make an impression.
