Styling Your Thanksgiving Outfit

Hi all!

Super excited to bring you today a new video and we’re talking thanksgiving! In particular, we’re going to look at three different scenarios and what to wear for each specific event. Are you meeting the in-laws for the first time? Spending it with friends on a friendsgiving? Maybe you’re just hanging out with your family? No matter the occasion or scenario, we’re going to look at a few key items we need to think about when putting together your outfit.

So we’re about 10 days from Thanksgiving - as I type this at least - which means it’s time to start putting our outfit together. But the question is what exactly are we doing? Today, I’ve put together three outfits for thanksgiving based on different scenarios. So let’s dive right in!

First Impression

Outfit 1 is all about making that first impression. Perhaps you’re meeting your friend’s, boyfriend’s, girlfriend’s or fiancee’s parents for the first time and you want to make a good, lasting impression. Did you know what research says we make our first impression in less than one tenth of a second? So we need to be looking great and give off the right cues. And the outfit in today’s video focuses on the color white to do so. White has long been associated with pureness and innocence - think brides, clergy, etc. We’ve even seen that in court rooms, wearing white makes you look less guilty.

So let’s look for white, or off-white, or ivory pieces. I opted for a beige and ivory poncho worn over a great sweater dress. Next, we want to add structure to the look to look well put-together and I gravitated towards a belt to do so.

Friendsgiving or a date with your significant other

For these occasions, we’re assuming you didn’t go home for the holiday. Maybe work didn’t allow it, ticket were too expensive - who knows! What we’re going for here is to look youthful, fun and attractive. How are we going to accomplish this? Shorter hemlines, form-fitting clothing and higher heels. So start thinking what you have in your wardrobe and mixes these three items.

For me? I opted for brown shorts - though a skirt would have worked too (shorter hemline), and paired them with great OTK heeled boots (form-fitting & high heel).

Favorites to achieve comfort

So you’re going home and want to look good but be comfortable so you can eat, right? So this one is fairly simple: go into your closet and quite literally pick out your absolute favorite pair of jeans right now. Then, grab your favorite cozy sweater. Put them together and voila!

But Christie, what do you mean? Well, when you wear your favorite pieces, you simply walk and carry yourself different. You’re confident in your look - you’re going to feel special! This will essentially change your overall attitude.

Which one is your favorite? What will you be wearing this Thanksgiving? Let me know in the comments below!
