Fall Trend Alert: Wide / Cinched Belt Trend

Hi all,

Fall is coming real fast and it's time to start talking Fall Trends. Today, we’re talking all about the Wide Belt or Cinched belt trend! We saw runway after runway feature them during the Fall/Winter shows, so let's take a look at this fun, upcoming fall trend and then go shopping for some belts.

Wide or Cinched Belt Trend

I've become a big fan of Wide or Cinched belts because they do a great job at accentuating the waist, and who doesn’t like that? I know what you're thinking:

Christie, it’s not fall yet. Why should I buy fall pieces already?

I know, I know - You're still full into Summer and still have to sport your newest pieces, I'm sure. But I recommend buying some fun pieces early on because since they’re trendy they are more likely to be sold out when the season is here. This is especially true for bikinis but back on the topic.

How To Style Wide or Cinched Belts

There are many ways to style this fall wide or cinched belt trend. One way to do it is to style over an ankle length dress, like I do here. Pair with sneakers or slides and you’re ready for errands, brunch, or walking the city. To bring the look to night, swap out the shoes for ankle booties.

Another option is to style them over an oversized button down shirt. For this look, pair with knee highs and you’re date night or fashion week ready!

Have a form-fitted or a-line mid-length skirt in your closet asking to be used? Style a belt over them and pair with stilettos and a clutch and you’re evening ready. Be sure to also add a form-fitted top for the a-line mid-length skirt too.

I'm a big fan of the blazer and denim look. With a belt, you want to style over the blazer and pair with ankle booties and you’re ready to take on the weekend.

Looking ahead to winter, you can also keep the trend going and style a belt over a mid-length coat. Pair with boots and you have yourself a chic winter look.

To note, for trendier pieces and not classic pieces, I’d recommend not investing too much money, as trends tend to be season specific. Below you will find my favorites under 50 and some splurge worthy pieces.  If you want the one I'm wearing, it's a beautiful Isabel Marant piece on sale at the time of writing in black!
