The Versatile (& Affordable) Trench Coat Dress
Happy November! Can't believe how quickly the year is flying by. We're all going to blink and it's going to be 2018. But before that, we at least have to talk about this Trench Coat Dress, a great affordable dress that can be used for many occasions.
Trench Coats & Dresses
We all have trench coats in our closets. They're of course a must-have for Fall & Spring, when the rain is pouring and the temperatures are in that mix of "not too cold" and "not too hot". With the temperatures we've been getting here in NYC, this dress caught my attention as it's a bit thicker than most, but it's not a sweater dress either. "Perfect", I thought! So how do we style it? Clearly the dress itself is the "Hero" here. So how to best complement it?
I kept it simple: First, I grabbed these over-the-knee boots from Pour La Victoire. You've seen these before, I'm a big fan. then, I added my go-to bag as of late and wore it as a cross body, as opposed to a belt/waist bag to not cover up the dress and luxe up the look with the golden chain.
But there are a few items to note about the dress: First, it's relatively affordable at only $116. But the reason it makes it affordable and good buy is its versatility. And this time I'm not talking about it being styled a million ways, but more so how it's a great dress for all occasions. It's great for work because it's covered and not too loud. But it can easily transition to happy hour after work or even a casual night out or dinner as you can luxe it up like I did here. But if not, you can easily wear it out during the day on the weekend for event brunches (i.e., baby or bridal showers, even graduation lunches come spring). It's one of those dresses that will see a lot of use and that's why I think it's a good buy. In case you're wondering, the shoot took place in Washington Square Park shortly after sunrise. Highly recommend a stop if you're visiting the city.
