Are your workout clothes helping or hindering your motivation?

Hi All,

It’s January as I write this - albeit the end of it - and I bet many of us have tried on some old workout clothes with the goal of completing that new year’s resolution of working out. Perhaps you’re off the bandwagon already or maybe you saw the clothes you had just weren’t cutting it. You didn’t love them!

How many of us have workout sets that used to fit us once up a time but no longer do? Or how many of us found some old pieces we were meaning to keep for that “one time something comes back in style”? Consider this your friendly reminder to DONATE those clothes right now and let’s chat about how clothes in general can affect our motivation when working out!

I’ve heard that story: I’m going to keep clothes that don’t fit me as motivation to lose those pounds so they fit me. But the truth is that keeping and wearing pieces that don’t fit us - or that we don’t like - is not only NOT a form of motivation, but instead can trigger negative self-talk, anxiety and stress than can, in turn, make us feel LESS motivated!

The key here is to keep clothes - workout or not - that fit us and we feel good in. That’s what’s going to give us the motivation we need to work out. The same can be applied to work and interviews for example, but we’ll leave that for another time!

So let’s embrace our bodies because we aren’t supposed to fit into clothes. Our clothes are meant to fit us.

If you’re searching for some cute pieces to wear, checkout some of my favorite pieces from Amazon, including this cute yoga bodysuit, pink $25 workout set, black workout crop top and more!

Let me know your thoughts on this and what your reoslution is or was! See you in the comments!
