Tips to Work From Home with a Baby

Hi all,

Excited to bring a brand new post today and we’re talking about WFH with a baby. Are you finding WFH with a baby hard? Here are some Dr C’s Tips for how to create a schedule and improve your WFH productivity!

WFH with a baby

My schedule HAS to works around Oliver’s nowadays - there’s no way around it- but what I noticed is that there are pockets of time throughout the day in which I can get a lot done. This has allowed me to be more productive and efficient with my time.

Here’s how:

  • I only go on social media during breaks, after work is done, and when baby is asleep! This keeps me from falling into the social media time trap.

  • I get things done during his naps. Oliver is on a 2 hour wake schedule and then his naps vary from 20-60 minutes. He naps pretty well and I set him up in the same sleep setting as he does when he sleeps at night to promote sleep.

  • Baby nap tip: encourage a nap before he gets overtired and is fussy and crying. When overtired, babies have a real hard time falling asleep.

  • I’ve learned Oliver’s sleep cues (I.e., yawning, getting quieter, red eyebrows) so I know when he’s starting to get tired and it’s time for a nap.

  • if for whatever reason it takes more than 5-10 minutes to put Oliver to sleep I usually do a quiet time activity and then try again. This saves frustration on both parts!

  • In the morning I’ve learned to shower before he wakes up. Then I set up a play area near me afterwards so I can get ready while he plays supervised and is within arms reach.

  • Multitasking Play tip: I rotate toys with him so I can get ready and he is content while I’m multitasking during this time.

  • Adjust my expectations. Sometimes I’m more productive on some days and others I’m not and I’m okay with that (today I was supposed to take a picture for this post but that didn’t work out so using this old one when Oliver was only 2 weeks old and 4lbs)!

Shared my daily schedule on stories along with baby wake and nap schedules depending on age range!

P.S. his nursery is in our loft bedroom! We know we have to move within the next month and a half before he shows signs of sitting up! Also he doesn’t sleep with this bumper on, it’s just for decoration.
