Dr. C's 3 Tips for Post-Partum Moms

Hi all,

Excited to bring a brand new Dr. C post as part of my Dr C’s Tips special on Instagram. Today we’re talking the realities of having a baby and trying to work. Not going to lie, I used to think I’d be able to have a clean house, dress up, look put together, and get my work down, while still paying attention to the baby, Alex and our pup postpartum (without help)!

Boy was I wrong.

3 Tips for post-partum moms

First of all, I think I had forgotten that sleep, or lack there of would totally interfere with my productivity level. While I’ve definitely adjusted to the lack of sleep I’ve had to make some adjustments. So this post is for the mamas, though these 3 tips can apply to anyone!

Tip 1.

Adjust expectations.

I had to redefine what was a successful day. What I once used to achieve before is no longer, and especially with a newborn! Personally, I now only take on one big task a day (one job a day, an outing, focus on pictures, etc) and I call that a win!

Tip 2.

Ask for help.

I used to want to do it all. I slowly shifted away from this and started asking the hubs and my mom to help with responsibilities so I could get things done.

Tip 3.

Do at least one thing for myself each day. Whether it’s a shower, put on make up, or a 10-minute alone me-time break I do at least one thing a day for my self-care.

Xo,
