Hot Trend Alert: Biker Shorts
We've been talking Fall Trends for the past few days, and today we dive into a new trend that is not quite "Fall", but is being seen everywhere as of late and that is the biker short trend. We've seen this on the Off-White and Saint Laurent runway shows, in many streetstyle looks and even the Kardashians have been photographed sporting them. So how do we rock it for a normal day-to-day? Let's find out and don't forget to leave your comment below with your thoughts as well.
How to: Biker Short Trend
The main secret to this trend is to ensure we look classy and not like we're training for a triathlon. So tip number one here is to try wearing a top that covers your thighs. In particular, some of the biker shorts can be see-through, in particular if you bend over. Another option for this is to wear with a blazer for the ultimate cool city look.
Tip number two involves tops as well, but we're going in the opposite direction: avoid wearing a croptop with your biker shorts unless you're actually headed to the gym. This goes back to the triathlon comment above. The trend can look very cool, or it can look like you're literally going to the gym. So avoid crop tops or anything similar.
Let's take a look at two options - one day-time and one night-time - in more detail:
Biker Short During the Day
If you're wearing your biker shorts during the day, try pairing the shorts with a button-down shirt or tunic and belt it to accentuate the waist. Alternatively, look for a casual tee and add a boxy blazer. Finish the look with low-heel mules or dad sneakers. If it's too hot for the blazer, then simply go for a loose, long shirt and belt it as well.
In the images here, I paired the biker shorts from Commando with a longer tunic (similar here) and belted it. Then, I added these gorgeous white boots from Ganni. I finished off the look with this vintage Hermes bag and studded belt.
Biker Shorts at Night Time
Heading out on a hot date or with your girlfriends? Grab a blazer that hits at the thighs and, again, belt it to accentuate the waist. Then you can choose to either skip wearing a shirt underneath, or instead go for a bodysuit, like this one from Commando. For shoes, go for simple heeled sandals and pair them with a cute clutch! The main differences here are the heel height and the no-shirt or bodysuit look underneath the blazer.
Are there a few other ways the trend has been worn? Yes, but I'm a big fan of the blazer pairing in general and think you will like it too as it gives you the cool factor of the shorts, but keeps you classy and well-put-together.
