How to Style Your LBD for NYE

How to Style Your LBD for NYE

Hi all,

We're but a few days away from NYE and so it's time to nail down our outfits! In today's post, we're going to grab something we all have in our wardrobes, the Little Black Dress, and style it a few different ways, so no matter who you are, you'll be able to finalize your outfit right here, and right now!

Not all LBDs are created equal. Some are plain, some are wrap dresses, some have embellishments or lace detailing , others have slits, etc. While a LBD, by definition almost, is a blank canvas to which we add accessories to style,  those accessories will vary depending on the dress. Let's take a look:

If Your LBD Dress...

is Short or Features a Slit

So let's say you have a short black dress, or one that features a long slit. This provides an opportunity to show off the shoes (and legs). One idea would be to go into your closet and pick out your favorite black OTK boots to style. If that's not an option, and in particular if it's cold out, consider adding tights and booties, instead. You could even add tights with embellishments and a bit of sparkle.

is Floor-length for a Gala

If your outing is more glam (heading to a gala, maybe?) or you have a floor-length wrap dress, and you need to wear a long dress to the floor, then avoid the above - because we can't see your legs or shoes - and opt for evening stiletto heeled sandals. Here you can choose between keeping it all-black with a black pair, or consider going with a metallic pair - silver or gold. If you want to add a pop of color, consider a jewel-tone hue, such as a red, emerald or blue.

Has Embellishments, a Print or is a Head-Turner

If your LBD has embellishments, a sexy design, or a print on it, try to keep the focus on the dress as opposed to the accessories. Or in other words, if your dress is a for-sure head-turner like this Michael Costello one from REVOLVE, let is shine and don't over do it. Add statement earrings, if you wish, but I'd recommend otherwise to stick to the all-black look, with the clutch and shoes.

How will you be styling your LBD for NYE? Let me know in the comments below!

P.S. REVOLVE features next day shipping so you can still get this one just in time for New Years Eve!

As always, thank you for reading!

xoxo,

Christie
