Can I Wear Black & Brown Together? Yes!
Today, in the spirit of Halloween, we're debunking an old, scary tale. Legends say that you are not to wear black and brown together. Yeah.. no! That old fashion rule applies no more. So let's take a look at why they work together and how to style your next look featuring black and brown.
How To Wear Black & Brown for Fall
Black and brown work perfectly for Fall. But why? They're neutrals! I know some believe that brown isn't' the best neutral and as this legend said, some believe you can't pair black with brown. But it just isn't true. They both work great together and make for the perfect Fall outfit. But how do we style them?
Occasion: Casual Outing (class, running errands, or casual Fridays at work).
Inspo: Start with a black turtleneck and add some denim and brown boots. Then, add a brown leather jacket and brown messenger bag to top it off. Here we're letting brown be the main color and using the black as the canvas for it.
Occasion: Date night
Inspo #1: Start with a brown chunky sweater for those cold Fall days. But then, add a black mini-skirt (It's date night after all) and your go-to pair of black thigh highs and a black clutch. Opposite to the above, we're letting black be the main color for the outfit, and using the brown as the canvas to support it.
Inspo #2: Ditch the sweater and opt instead for a black body suit. Then add a brown leather jacket on top to keep you warm. Keep the black mini skirt and do a fun silver slouchy boot, like I do here in the images.
Inspo: Start with a pair of black pants, either a straight-leg fit or wide-leg trouser. Then add a white button down shirt and brown blazer on top. Finish it off with a pair of black pumps. Chicness at work!
