Summer Staples: Denim Shorts & Off The Shoulder Top

I'm continuing on talking about Summer pieces and today's blog is no exception because we're talking about a fun top but also one of Summer's absolute staples: denim shorts. So let's dive right in:

Summer Staple: The Every Off The Shoulder Top

We've spoken at length about off the shoulder and how it's absolutely in for Summer. We looked at dresses and tops and today's piece is the perfect versatile top to add to your closet. Why? It can very easily be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. Headed out to lunch, brunch or errands, follow my lead and pair with your go-to flat espadrilles or gladiator sandals and your large everything-fits tote. The look works too if you're headed out for a hot Summer date, though you might want to consider heeled espadrilles instead.

Want to dress the top up a bit? Pair with wide-legged white denim or trousers and stick with similar accessories and you're good to go as well.

Summer Staple: The Denim Shorts

These are a staple. A classic. A must-have in every closet. Not only are they super versatile, but perfect for almost any Summer occasion - whether that is going to the beach, running around town or headed to dinner. Plus, they're a great item to bring along on your travels as they occupy so little space in your luggage, but can be styled a million ways. About the only place these shorts don't belong is any sort of formal event, but other than that...

The secret with denim shorts is that there's a fine line usually between looking super chic and.... not so... chic...One of my recommendations is that when you wear these, stick to more covered up tops. You're already showing off legs, no need to show your entire body. Unless of course the top is a bikini and you're at the beach playing volleyball. :)
