Psychology of the Color Black

Hi all,

Let’s talk about what I think might be many of you all’s favorite color: black. When I lived in NYC, black -and gray - became my favorite colors, and I still wear black very often. But what exactly does wearing black say about us? Why would you wear or better yet: why should you wear it? Let’s dive in:

What wearing black says about you

Black represents many attributes like strength, leadership, professionalism, and sophistication.

A person who wears the color black can be perceived to be confident, credible, elegant, and mysterious.

Wear the color when you want to be taken seriously or want to reassure or impress someone.

The color is also incredibly flattering since it minimizes one’s perception of body mass.

However, wearing or being exposed to the color black constantly can have an negative impact on your mood, as it can evoke sadness and anger. So make sure to also wear other colors!

How do you feel when you wear the color black?
