What To Add To Your Hospital Bag for your C-Section

Hi all,

The countdown for Baby Ferrari has officially reached the single digits in terms of days as I write this and obviously I’m getting equal parts nervous and excited! Today was an important day in baby planning though as I prepared and packed my hospital bag. This is everything that is coming with me to the hospital to prepare me for the before and after of the C-Section. The items you see here have either been recommended to me, or I’ve found through research. I’m also bringing with me an AmeriCord kit as it’s something that’s been recommended to be by several doctors.

What exactly will I use? Who knows! But hopefully it helps you out if you’re putting your own hospital bag together as well! And don’t forget to check out what I’m packing for the diaper bag, too!

Hospital Bag for C-Section - What to pack

You know, going to the hospital is not like going to a hotel. So we have to ensure we’re bringing everything we need. That includes toiletries, basic essentials, and different things to make you feel comfortable. Try even bringing your own towel as hospital towels tend to be super thin and small. Oh, and don’t forget your pillow and blanket.

Comfy slippers are a must, too so you can walk around and begin rehabbing post-C-Section and of course a robe, which I’ve linked a few below. I’ve been recommended to bring at least one pair of grip socks. They can also be used for pilates later on, so they’re not a one-time shop.

Then we get into some of the not-so-pretty-cute things that are necessary: I’ve been advised to bring Gas-X or milk of magnesium with me as C-Sections tend to constipate you. A belly band is also great for abdominal support and can help with post-partum recovery.

They do say it takes a bit more time to develop the milk after a C-Section but you should bring your breast pump regardless. This one is great because it’s hands-free and fits in your bra so it’s a bit more discreet.

Breast feeding can be painful, or so I hear, so I have nipple cream and ice packs. Bleeding might happen no matter how you deliver, so some panty liners are a must as are some bras for breastfeeding.

Oh, don’t forget to get yourself a cute hospital bag :)
