Runway to Sidewalk: Saint Laurent Fall 2018

Hi all,

Today, we’re talking about a runway look and bringing it to the sidewalk in what might be, depending on your guy’s opinion, a new weekly or monthly series on the blog to bring you runway looks and make them more accessible and wearable. In this first edition, we’re talking about this outfit which was inspired by one of the looks from Saint Laurent’s Fall/Winter Runway look. So why does this outfit-for-less work? And where are these pieces from? Let’s dive right in!

Don’t forget to hit like all the way at the bottom of this blog post, and comment letting me know your thoughts on this outfit and if you’d like for this series to continue!

Saint Laurent Runway Look For Everday

Let’s face it: If we all could, we’d be rocking this same outfit, head-to-toe Saint Laurent. But the truth is that we can’t all always be rocking the exact look from the runway. I remember when I first saw this look as part of the Saint Laurent Fall/Winter show, I was in love. So I set out to use it as inspiration for Paris Fashion Week look and started looking for pieces that looked similar but were a bit more accessible. The result was one of my favorites looks from Paris that I took to the famous Moulin Rouge to capture before going to a few presentations.

The Selects

As you can see from the actual picture above, the look features a pair of faux leather shorts, a striped tank top and a plaid blzzer along with boots. To recreate the look, I opted for this pair of faux leather shorts (similar here from BlankNYC), and a combo from Madewell for the top and blazer. Underneath, I had one of my Commando Ballet Bodysuits as well. Luckily, I do own the boots from Saint Laurent, so I saw it as a way to support the brand, while still going for a look-for-less. I will be sharing below similar options for the boots as well. For the bag, I grabbed one my go-to’s as of late, with this Boyy Bag.

Where to Wear?

One of the reasons I loved the look from the get-go, was how wearable and versatile the look was while remaining chic. It’s the perfect weekend look as is - great for brunch, a night out or a dinner date. However, you could easily swap the leather shorts for faux leather leggings or pants and wear it to work as well!

What do you think of the look? And do you want to see more Runway to Sidewalk in the future? Let me know in the comments below!

xo,

Christie
