Monochrome Cape Sweater

Hi all,

Today we're talking about this monochrome color block cape that is from -believe it or not -  The Zoe Report's latest Box of Style!

Box of Style is a subscription box - with different options and costs. Check out the different options here. For example, this box also contained a black belt, lint removing sheets, gold charm bracelet, eye brow pencil, and lip glosses.

Why this cape works

Let's begin by saying that it's super cozy and chic! Do I need to say more? Ok, fine! It's also perfect for fall or any season really given that white and black are always season proof. It also is very versatile as it can be styled in a variety of ways. For today's look, I went with a belt (also from the box). Belting your sweater or cape is actually a great way to accentuate your waist when wearing a loose or slouchy sweater so the sweater doesn't consume you.

When using the belt, try a form-fitted top underneath the cape. You should use the weather to gauge what you need - think a basic color tank, tee, or turtleneck. You have flexibility for the bottom and can wear with either form-fitted or wide-legged pants. I chose a pair of ankle length denim and finished with a great pair of over-the-knee boots. This makes for a great Fall look perfect for brunch, drinks, or dinner

Off to brunch or a casual day of errands? You can also forget the belt and leave it open! Since you will have more volume up on top you will want to balance the look by wearing form fitted bottoms. A good suggestion for shoes would be high top sneakers. On top, add a basic color turtleneck or loose tee. Add a hat and you're ready to go.

Have a fancier event? Try a form fitted bodycon dress in a fall color to remain season-appropriate - think plum or olive green - and then drape the cape over the dress.

As always, thank you for reading!

xoxo,

Christie
