How to Layer a Slip Dress

Hi all,

With winter here, layering becomes second nature for many of us. You might recall that recently we spoke about layering a button down shirt and a turtleneck and if you follow me on youTube (you don’t? Go check it out now!), you recently saw a video in which we discussed layering a bit more in depth and that video features today’s look. So let’s talk layering a slip dress for today’s post!

How to layer a slip dress

We all have either a slip dress or a thin-fabric Spring/Summer dress in our wardrobes. But how we bring those dresses out of the closet during winter? We layer! This look features a black slip dress, a gray turtleneck sweater that I tied into a knot - more on this later -, black over the knee boots (similars linked here) and a gray coat. I also added a bit of color via this gorgeous Danse Lente bag.

This outfits is glamorous and chic and is perfect for a fun weekday or weekend evening. As mentioned, in prior articles, we begin the look with the thinnest fabric - the slip dress and layer on top a sweater. I tied it into a knot to better accentuate my waist and add something different to the look. If you’re not into the knot tie, simply add a little belt and tuck your sweater into the belt.

Will you be styling a slip dress this winter season? Let me know in the comments below!

As always, thank you for reading!

Christie
