1 Piece 3 Ways | Ep. 11 | How to Style Espadrilles for Summer
Super excited to bring you a new edition of my 1 Piece 3 Ways series (check out some of the older showcases on lavender, denim jackets and even winter boots). Today, I’ve partnered with DSW and we’re talking about a must-have shoe for Summer & Spring: The Espadrille. We all have one of these in our wardrobes, whether flat, heeled, platform or wedges. Today, we’re going to look at 3 different, and fun ways to style your espadrilles and then, we’re going to go shopping for some with DSW.
WHY YOU MUST HAVE ESPADRILLES IN YOUR CLOSET
Espadrilles are a closet must-have for Spring & Summer season – or if you live in Miami, almost year-round! They’re casual in nature, but can be dressed up as well making them a very versatile style of shoe. Plus, they’re also the perfect vacation shoe as they’ll easily transition from the beach, to lunch, to walking around town, to dinner. Flat espadrilles will feel more at home during casual outings, think errands, lunch, the pool or beach. Whereas heeled espadrilles will be your go-to for more dressed up outings, though they can also be worn for casual days too.
CASUAL LOOK WITH ESPADRILLES
The first look that we’re going to be discussing is a casual, every day look that I wore running errands in New York. Here, we used these flat blue espadrilles and paired them with a white blouse and a blue and white ruffled skirt. Flat espadrilles though can really be worn with just about anything. You can try going instead for a white dress or a denim short and t-shirt combo.
CASUAL HEELED ESPADRILLES
So I just mentioned how heeled espadrilles can also be used for casual outings, and this next outfit is a great example of that. We’re adding these cute brown espadrilles to this look, which are obviously heeled, and are pairing them with a blue, off-the-shoulder dress. While it’s a bit dressier than the first option, it’s still very much a day-time outfit and I wore it out during the day. The key to day time heeled espadrilles is to opt for height and width that are still comfortable for walking distances. This will of course vary from person to person, but these brown ones are lower than the next pair we’ll talk about, and wider, so it allows for comfort in addition to some needed height.
This final look for today was purposely meant to be a day to night – perfect for vacation, or simply a weekend out on the town. The height of the heel in this case is the highest of the three, and the wedge is the thinnest, making them feel more at home at night time. Here we paired the blue heeled espadrilles with a fun, cream-colored denim romper. But you can also go for a denim dress or a white dress. Since these in particular are blue, I’d recommend you stick to shades of blue, white, or even red.
Espadrilles can be your go-to shoe for almost any occasion. From every day errands, to a bridal or baby shower and everything in between. They’re great for day time wear, as well as nighttime, and transition from one to the other rather easily. This versatility makes them the perfect vacation shoe, as you’ll be able to save space on your suitcase by using espadrilles for many occasions.
