1 Piece 3 Ways - Ep. 8 - Kimono for Festival Season
Why a Kimono for a festival
A kimono is a great option for festival season and beyond! It's a super versatile piece that will take you to the beach, the pool, date night or any casual event you have going on. For your festival wardrobe, a kimono works because it helps you master that boho look that festival like Coachella are all about. For today's video, we'll be using this gorgeous floral kimono from Alice + Olivia.
Styling a kimono with a dress
Because the kimono we picked is rather loud and colorful, we want to pair it with a dress that will let it shine. That's why I opted for a white dress (similar here)- but you have go for any neutral color. This dress in particular is rather short, but feel free to wear shorts underneath or a slip if it's too short for you. Since the Kimono is the long piece here, go as short as you feel comfortable.
Styling a kimono with a colorful top
I know: "Christie, you just said to let the kimono shine so to add neutral-colored pieces!" It's true. BUT, we can also add a fun pop of color with our top. My recommendation is to use one of the colors that your kimono already comes with and use it as an accent color. So for example, this kimono from A+O has green, blue, yellow, etc. If you want to add color, but not go with a full top, you could also opt for a bathing suit or bikini top as well, while again, using one of the colors in your kimono as the pop.
Styling a kimono with a band/concert tee
We're at a music festival, right? So chances are you like one of the bands you're seeing, so why not show it off while rocking the kimono. You're adding color again - most band tees are rather colorful, but keeping it more music festival friendly. Plus, it's a great way to meet people because other fans of the band you chose are likely to stop you or give you a high five! For the bottom, I recommend cutout denim shorts.
Styling a kimono with accessories
The accessory game at a music festival is as important or more important than the outfit. Here are some items you want to consider, and I go into detail in the video above: Cowboy boots, a bandana and cool sunnies!
