NYFW Eyewear with Eyecessorize

Hi all,

A/W 2017 NYFW is behind us now and it’s time to take a breather – albeit a short one! And in today’s post, I wanted to talk about the eyewear you might have seen me sporting throughout Fashion Week. I know many of you have commented in the past that I never take my sunglasses off, so for this week, I wanted to try some regular eyeglasses as well. I always talk about details and finishing touches to different looks, and eyewear is a great option.

In partnership with Eyecessorize – The Vision Council’s campaign to promote the fashion and lifestyle aspects of eyewear – I was able to update my optical wardrobe just in time for NYFW. You might not know, but I wear and have needed contacts and glasses since 3rd grade – Yup, I’m blind :). As I’ve aged, I enjoy wearing glasses more and more, so why not do so during NYFW? After all, eyewear is considered a must-have fashion accessory these days.

For the first look, I was wearing a statement top and I needed eyewear that would complement my look, not over do it. These Lafont Paris clear glasses were the perfect choice. I do see clear glasses like these being a big trend for 2017, so be on the lookout for your own pair! For make up here, I went with a lighter and more subtle look, to keep the focus on the loud blouse and clear glasses.

On to the second look then. Here, we have somewhat of the opposite as look number 1. The layered turtleneck and shirt are neutral, so they allow for statement eyewear and a pop of color. Enter these beautiful CH Carolina Herrera eyeglasses with red frames by De Rigo REM. I chose to wear my hair back for more accentuation on the face and glasses and kept make up subtle as well. If you wanted to dress up the frames and look, you could try a red lip, but then you must keep the eye very, very subtle to not over do it.

As you know, I also love sunglasses, especially round-rimmed pairs, and these Kingsley Rowe shades are a new staple for me. The good news? They go with anything. That’s right: This look has a layered turtleneck and slip, in addition to a hat and the sunglasses that went in seamlessly. So, if you’re looking for everyday sunglasses that are round-rimmed, look no further.

For look #4, I went with the trendy, athletic vibe. The athleisure trend inspired the outfit, though of course for NYFW, I dressed it up. Here, we’re talking a cool, trendy look and no better set of sunglasses would complement this outfit than a pair with reflective lenses. Enter these Calvin Klein by Marchon eyewear to add the finishing touch to the outfit. Here again, we have a loud red look, so we can’t go very colorful, but still wanted to add some “cool” to the look.

For the last outfit of NYFW, I opted for some pink. The outfit featured dark colors thanks to this faux fur coat, so I wanted to keep the face with light hues to brighten it up. For make up, I went with a natural look and the pink sunglasses from TOMS Eyewear added the perfect touch. True story: On the day I chose to wear these, NYC was having a bad snowstorm too!

Whether you’re putting together an outfit for NYFW or a day or night out with friends or a significant other, it helps to think of every piece that the outfit will feature and not just the top and bottoms. We always think of “what bag do I wear with this?” or “what shoes do I pair”? Don’t forget to think of which type of eyewear will strengthen your outfit too!

As always, thank you for reading!
