Monochrome OOTD

Hi all!

Thank you for stopping by! Today, we're talking about another classic color pairing. I say another because if you have kept up to date with your readings, we discussed the white classic top and denim recently. Today, it's all about the monochrome look - that is, black and white.

Versatility

Versatility is one of the qualities I look for in any piece I own. A rule of thumb I use is that if I'm going to buy something, I have to find at least three different ways I can style it and they should apply to different settings. This helps expands the closet and keeps you trying new things and decreasing the good ol' "I have nothing to wear" problem. It's impossible to get rid of it completely, right?

Monochrome Look

When deciding pieces for this look, I first grabbed a new pair of black wide-legged trousers from Bebe. Going back to versatility, these are perfect for work or for a night out. In other words, great from going from the office to happy hour on Friday! Talk about efficiency. right? For this look though, I was inspired for a night out - and not the office, as the crop top doesn't belong in offices! So a night out begs for a little skin, and the crop top delivers, though modestly, by showing just a couple of inches of the belly. Plus, the 90s are on fire now and the crop tops are on trend. This one is also from Bebe and what immediately drew me to it were the grommets as they add some edge to an otherwise all-white top. To honor my three piece rule, you can try wearing this top with a pair of denim or white high waisted pants - if you don't want to show some skin - or with shorts!

Because I was in NYC I thought I would add a last very fun, very NYC touch to the classic black and white outift combo: A great studded leather jacket from Nour Hammour. This one just blew my mind with its detail and studs. Quite the statement piece!

What else would you have styled this crop top with? Let us know in the comments below!

As always, thanks for reading!

xoxo,

Christie
