Styling Sheer Pieces
I hope you're having a fantastic day! Did you know that sheer styling doesn't necessarily need to be risque? Yes! Let's take a quick look at how to style sheer pieces in classy, stylish, and chic ways.
I'm going to point out the obvious: If you don't wear anything underneath the sheer, you're going to be exposed. (I know what you're thinking: Christie, the rocket scientist!) But therein lies the trick: No matter what sheer piece you're wearing, be sure to layer over another piece of fabric. Below, we'll take a look at some examples in a second.
To balance the look, cover up in other places. For example, since I was wearing a sheet skirt, I paired it with a conservative top. You don't want to show too much either! For this outfit, I also wanted it to look more structured, so I decided to keep the cuffs of the top unbuttoned.
Where to Wear and How to Style Sheer
Sheer can be worn almost anywhere - yes even work (Well, maybe not this particular skirt!) How to make sheer office appropriate? Stick to sheer tops only and pair them with a great camisole or oxford top. Another option for work is to wear a sheer coat over a pair of wide-legged trousers and button-down shirt. The key when wearing sheer to work is to stay covered up. Remember sexy is not meant for the workplace!
Okay, so you're off work and on your way to a night out? Pair the sheer piece with a neutral colored midi skirt. That way your bottom stays conservative and your outfit balanced.
Perhaps you're considering a sheer piece for day time or for a brunch. Easy to style then: Look for a sheer floor-length top and style over denim with a camisole underneath. Finish the look with a fun pair of brogues.
